EFF carries out cleaning operation in Houghton

HOUGHTON – EFF tackles filth in Houghton as part of a clean-up campaign.

Members of the Economic Freedom Fighters took to the streets of Houghton as part of the Operation Fiyela clean-up initiative. The campaign took place on 5 June and saw members don their party regalia to help clean up the streets and keep the area tidy.

Refilwe Hutang, candidate councillor for Ward 73, said the clean-up came as a result of an issue raised by one of their branch chairperson’s on the filth strewn between 12th Avenue and Central Street.

“The chairperson, Patrick Moagi, was disturbed by the filth he had come across while jogging along the road and he immediately reported the matter to the ward and with the help of members, we have tackled the place and left it spotless,” she added.

Hutang also praised the participation and efforts to clean-up the area, stressing that the campaign to keep streets clean across the various suburbs would not end there but would continue.
