St John’s College Rugby Festival second day produces big scores

HOUGHTON - Big scores were the order of the day, on day two of the St John’s College Rugby Festival, in its 21st year.

With a grand opening ceremony of the festival, each participating school paraded on the host’s rugby field in full uniform. “Welcome to the festival all participating schools. Many life lessons are learnt on the sports field and character traits such as perseverance , determination, courage, humility and loyalty are all forged by playing sport,” said Paul Edey, headmaster of St John’s College.

Results of the day’s play are:  Paarl Boys beat Helpmekaar 24 to 17, Paul Roos won 14 to 11 against Monument, St John’s College won against St John’s Harare 23 to 15, Lions Presidential lost against Hilton College with a score of 15 to 18, Affies beat Nelspruit 38 to 0 and Parktown Boys won their game against Viadana 39 to 12.
