New swings for Craighall Park residents

CRAIGHALL PARK – Families can now enjoy new swings in Hamilton Parks thanks to CRA.

According to Wendy McAllister, deputy chairperson of the Craighall Park Residents Association (CRA), the association recently donated new swings to the park on Hamilton Avenue, as part of a community initiative to be enjoyed by all Parkhurst residents.

Louise Kelly and Roz Berzen were the brains and organisers of the community initiative.

“We hope the children of all residents will enjoy using the new swings in the park. What’s good is that it is accessible to the areas around Craighall Park too,” McAllister added.

The chairperson thanked the residents of Craighall, Craighall Park, Dunkeld West and Oerder Park for becoming CRA members, and because of this new membership, the association was able to do more for the area.

“But we’re still a long way from our target of 75 percent membership. For residents who are not yet members but would like to know more about the CRA, please come and meet the CRA.”

The CRA will be hosting a community open day on 19 March, which will take place at the newly-renovated Craighall Sports Club in Abercorn Avenue.

Ward 90 councillor, Anthony Still commended the efforts made by the association to create more of a community.”It is great news that swings have been installed in the park. The area is an area with a lot of children and the park is quite a well-used park.”

Still, however, urged residents to make continued use of the park so that the area and the swings do not get into a state of decay.
