Rosebank CPF shares highlights of the year

ROSEBANK - Lieutenant-Colonel Logan Govender, has been names Rosebank CPF 2015 hero.

AS THE year draws to a close, the Rosebank Community Policing Forum (CPF) shared some of its highlights for this year, their hero and their Christmas and New Year wishes.

“Even though Rosebank is the smallest precinct in the cluster, its level of crime is by far the lowest. A significant contributory factor to this is the exchange of security data and co-operation between the police and the various security companies and personnel in the precinct at weekly security meetings,” said Costa Qually, chairperson and representative of the CPF.

While he commends Rosebank police for their hard work, the lack of willingness and involvement by the vast majority of the community members in the affairs and activities of the police forum, residents’ associations and other bodies or activities that impact the lives of people in the precinct is not good.

“A greater level of involvement and commitment would have a positive and noticeable impact in further improving the security situation in the precinct and [will] lead to a higher sense of community spirit,” he said.

Lieutenant-Colonel Logan Govender, the station commander of Rosebank Police Station, was named the forum’s hero Qually as he managing to reduce the level of crime in the precinct despite manpower challenges. “If and when the number of police officers stationed at Rosebank [Police Sation] increases, it will allow for a far greater level of visible policing, which should contribute to a safer and more crime-free environment.”

Govender further explained that this will also allow the station to offer all services that should be provided.

“The one thing we’d like over the festive season is a crime-free and blessed festive season for all in our precinct,” said Qually.
