Charities receive big donations

PARKTOWN – The handover event represented the second beneficiary payout for this year in Parktown by Crescent Lifestyle.

At a handover event, Crescent Lifestyle, an Islamic lifestyle business, donated a percentage of their profits, which totalled R251 000, to various charities and schools.

“We thank our loyal community members for their continued support, it is through this we were able to give back,” said Al-Firnas Patel, Crescent Lifestyle’s managing director.

He noted that with this second donation for 2015, they have now given a total of R2.75 million to various charities over their eight years of existence. “The payouts are not about race or culture, this is about giving back and uplifting the community. In the near future we hope to have more payouts,” said Patel.

Although there were many charities that received a portion of the payout, these were the top five beneficiaries – Gift of the Givers, R33 414.63; Ikageng Itereleng Aids Ministry, R18 048.78; Al Imdaad Foundation, R17 944.25; Sultan Bahu Centre, R15 609.76; Baitul Ilm Orq, R11 614.40

Carol Dyantyi, founder of Ikageng Itereleng Aids Ministry, explained that her programme helped children in Soweto who were affected or orphaned by HIV/Aids. “We thank Crescent Lifestyle for this donation as there are many children who have been affected or infected by HIV/Aids,” she said.

Qari Ziyad Patel of Al Imdaad Foundation added, “We are so happy with this partnership. Thank you! And we applaud you for the support you have provided. Charity begins at home and we are so grateful.”
