Pridwin Preparatory School, which is based in Melrose, treated their Grade 1 pupils to a visit to the Lory Park Zoo recently.
Their last theme in the second term was wild animals, and with this in mind the school managed to secure a guided tour of the zoo. This included a tour through the entire park where the guide explained the origins, habitat, diet and interesting facts about the animals. Thereafter, the guides introduced the boys to some contact animals, where they were able to touch and experience the animals on a more personal level. Hanlie Lombard Garner, librarian and teacher at the school, said the experience was enjoyed by the boys.
