Family fun at the ParkWords Literary Festival

PARKVIEW - ParkWords Literary Festival provided entertainment for the whole family.

ParkWords Literary Festival welcomed residents from Parkview and surrounding areas for a family day with a difference.

With tons of entertainment, visitors were able to have lots of educational fun as they learnt a thing or two from the literary talent present at the festival. Parkview Residents’ Association, which hosted the event, invited a number of prominent writers, authors, journalists and academics living in the suburb and surrounds to participate in the festival.

“The festival is about celebrating the remarkable talent that we have in our area. It is about taking back our streets and spending time with family,” commented Theresa Gibbon, public relations officer of Parkview Residents’ Association.

Children were given the chance to walk the streets freely in a secure environment, enjoy jumping castles, draw and socialise while their parents enjoyed motorsport extravaganzas, music and shopping.

“Today was really different and fun. It was nice because we could meet other kids and play, eat and walk around because we felt safe,” said Khadija Ben Azouz, who enjoyed the kid’s entertainment at the festival.

“This was a great way for business owners to showcase what they have to offer. It is a free event so it was easily accessible to anyone who wanted to come. I think today was a success and everyone worked together to create this event,” said Kelly Robinson, chairman of the Business Owners’ Association of Parkview.

Visitor, Dianne Dempsey, said she felt the festival was well organised and commended the Parkview Residents’ Association for a job well done.

“Great festival, it brought the community together, which is great and with more things like this, there will be a greater future,’ said Richard James Webb, another attendee.

Visitors were requested to donate used books to the Parkview Library for resale to raise funds for new books.
