KES old boys pip SJC old boys in heated rugby match

HOUGHTON - The King Edward VII School's (KES) old boys rugby side beat St John's College's (SJC) old boys on 11 July at the Houghton-based college in a match that pitted muscle against muscle.

The game saw some dazzling breaks from both teams as they battled it out against each other to gain ground.

KES scored two early tries, however, only managed to convert one. SJC managed to come back towards the end of the game to score twice in quick succession and managed to convert both tries, leaving the home side leading 12-14.

As the game progressed, St John’s were seen to be the favourites, and the second half saw KES putting up a great defence in order to keep SJC from scoring again.

During the last four minutes of the game, KES hit back scoring a late try which saw the game ending in a 19-14 win to KES.
