PARKTOWN - Crescent Lifestyle, a Islamic-based business, has recently donated over R250 000 to various charity organisations.

The handover event represented the first beneficiary payout for this year and it took place on 12 May in Parktown.

Crescent Lifestyle’s managing director Al-Firnas Patel noted that the amount donated on this occasion culminates to a total of R2.5 million provided to non-profit organisations by the business in the past seven years.

Several charity and non-profit organisations received varying amounts. The top five beneficiaries include Gift of the Givers, R33 398; Ikageng Itereleng Aids Ministry, R18 347; Al-Imdaad Foundation, R17 464; Sultan Bahu Centre, R16 805 and Baitul Ilm Org, R12 526.

The organisations performed a wide range of good work from offering support to those affected by HIV/Aids, to donating relief aid and offering medical assistance to disadvantaged communities.

Carol Dyantyi, founder of Ikageng Itereleng Aids Ministry, explained that her programme helped children in Soweto who were affected or orphaned by HIV/Aids, “We provide them with food, [ensure that] they have the ability to go to school and offer emotional support,” said Dyantyi. Dyantyi thanked Crescent Lifestyle and mentioned that as a result of their donation, 18 of Ikageng’s children could now be supported to go to school.
