St Johns College’s 20th rugby festival kicks off

JOBURG - St John's College, in proud association with Standard Bank, will host their 20th Easter Rugby Festival which kicks off on 2 April, continuing on the 4 and 6 April.

“Bigger and better than before, the festival will see 12 top schoolboy rugby sides playing first-class rugby in front of a crowd at a high profile event,” explained St John’s College’s media liaison, Cailin Wandrag.

“Our aim is not to have any team winners or individual prizes, but to focus on the boys’ experiences by matching teams they may not have [had] the opportunity to play [against] during the year which includes an international side from Italy, Viadana,” said Wandrag.

Six games will be contested every day over three days of play.

New to the festival, this year boasts an exclusive deck which will allow unparalleled views of all the games, while enjoying a selection of gourmet food and drinks. Cover charge to enter the deck is R50 per day, and space is limited.

“The festival will boast fun and entertainment for the whole family, young and old,” Wandrag said.

“We expect in the region of 20 000 people over the weekend including our pupils, parents, old boys, old parents, participating school communities and our broader community,” Wandrag said.

General entrance fee is R35, and tickets are valid for entry into St John’s College and KES on Thursday and Monday. Saturday tickets are valid for entry into St Johns College only.

Fixtures of all the games and times have been posted on the St John’s College website.
