Kingsmead book fair a major hit

Kingsmead College hosted its third annual Kingsmead Book Fair.

The school welcomed thousands of eager readers who enjoyed a day of robust comparing, sharing, discussing and debating with their favourite authors, writers and media personalities.

This year, Deon Meyer, Justin Cartwright, Niq Mhlongo, Tim Couzens, Moeletsi Mbeki, Dominique Botha and Marianne Thamm were just some of the authors who were on hand to discuss their books during the fair.

Jenny Crwys-Williams, Eusebius McKaiser, Michele Magwood, Ndumiso Ngcobo and Sue Grant-Marshall facilitated some of the interviews.

The sessions took the form of one-on-one conversations, discussions between two or three writers and a facilitator, as well as occasional talks.

Children ranging from the ages five to 10 were also catered for, which meant the whole family could enjoy the day in the school’s beautiful grounds.

The Kingsmead Book Fair has become a significant event on the South African literary calendar.
