The arrest occurred when a police patrol spotted a dark green Opel Corsa parked at the corner of 8th Street and 2nd Avenue.
“When the police checked the car, they found the driver was sitting in the car. They asked him if they may search him, and he replied that he was hot,” said police spokesperson Princess Mudau.
The police asked the driver what he meant by that statement, but he made no reply.
When they searched him, the officers found a plastic bag in his jacket pocket. Inside the bag were 18 packets of drugs, with a street value of R4500.
The man was arrested and taken to the police station where he was detained in a cell.
He will appear in court soon.
