The Honda Type R – a pocket rocket like no other

The Honda Motor Co has just announced that the all-new Honda Civic Type R has set a new lap time record for a front-wheel drive car at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany.

The new lap record now stands at 7.44.88 minutes, thus achieving the manufacturer’s goals to produce an ultimate and pure sports performance car.

The 2.0-liter engine produces 243kW and 420Nm.

“We developed the all-new Civic Type R with the spirit of ‘going beyond our past achievements’ and strived for the ultimate FWD sports car by refining the ‘essential value’ and ‘emotional appeal’ unique only to our Type R models. We sincerely hope that all current and prospective owners of the Type R will enjoy and love their vehicle with the pride we share with you,” Hideki Kakinuma, the Civic Type R’s development leader, said.
