He understands our pain

Pastor Gerrit Mes; from the pulpit

As a child growing up, I remember the words of an advertisement: “Kiss it better with a Band Aid strip”.

The owners of the Band Aid strip recognised the importance of love in the healing process. The comfort of a loved one’s presence can contribute towards your healing.

We are comforted by people, the known and our routine.

As a Christian, I receive comfort from knowing there is Someone bigger than myself who can help me.

So if you have a broken heart today, if you have been disappointed, betrayed or rejected by someone you trusted or even loved, allow God to kiss it better with his touch.

Jesus knows your pain. His best friend doubted him, another friend denied knowing him, while a close friend betrayed him with a kiss. It is a comfort to know that Jesus understands. People around you understand.

I know and understand your pain. My job exposes me to disappointment, betrayal and rejection regularly.

Why do I go on? Because I know God knows and he understands my pain.

It’s a comfort to us that God knows.
