Unseen: A poem about Covid-19
Joan from Wilro Park shares her poem:
Covid-19 Invisible, unseen
Attacking across the world
Its tendrils unfurledLatching to anything close
Taking people as its host
No discrimination As it travels our nation The death toll is rising But it’s not surprising
There’s no vaccine For this Virus Unseen
This Virus UnseenCalled Covid-19
Is spreading faster Causing disaster
To reduce the dead
And combat the spreadThe only suggestion
For general protectionIs to wear a mask A compulsory task
Wash hands and sanitize
Don’ t go and fraternise
Keep social distanceIt helps with resistance
To Covid-19 This Virus Unseen
We must stop Covid-19
This Virus UnseenBy staying at homeNo streets to roam
No cigarettes, no drinking What is the government thinking?
They say it will help to spread it lessBut people are under so much stress
Five levels now, return in stages But this is going to take us ages Now the country must unite
Listen to rules and do what’s right To stop Covid-19
This Virus Unseen Covid-19
Invisible, unseenIs an assault on mankind
Which we’re fighting blind
There’s no real protection
Against this infectionSo many are infected
Two weeks to be detected
The frontline can’t cope
All we can do is hope
That we get a reprieve
And at last it will leave If we all uniteThe end may be in sight
To this Virus Unseen
Covid-19
