A Viking thing in Ruimsig

After all the fun and laughter, and just before the final battle, they embarked on The Journey to Valhalla, which was symbolic of a Viking funeral.

Saturday, 7 March saw Rusty Hook Restaurant transformed into a Dahogrian Empire with Viking enthusiasts dressed up in impressive costumes and conversing in Old Norse.

The doors opened at 10am and without wasting time, the activities kicked off with an ancient Dahogrian Empire fight training.

Viking games and pleasant tunes from the talented Jodie Reid set the perfect atmosphere at the event and made the Viking experience come alive.

The Viking big bad beard contest was one of the highlights of the event, shortly followed by a Viking quiz with Dayle Robyn in the Snorting Boar tent.

After enjoying the delicious variety of food and drinks on the menu, the Quest winners and Raiders Plunder raffle winner were announced at the information booth.

The Vikings were famous for sailing huge distances from their home in Scandinavia between AD 800 and 1066 to raid and plunder, but they also traded with people from other countries.
