No fuss in a Fuso

Fuso Trucks adds new models to its range while five existing models receive a facelift.

Meeting demands and identifying opportunities in the market, Fuso Trucks added four new models to its range. The FI12-170 and FJ18-280S both come in the short-wheelbase specification to meet the demands of urban transporters, the FJ18-280L and FJ26-280, however, come in the long-wheelbase specification and will cater to those in need of vehicles with larger transporting capacities. The development of the new vehicles and updates made to the existing range focuses on improving efficiency and occupant safety.

Also benefitting from the collaboration between FUSO and Mercedes-Benz is the newly facelifted FA9-137, FJ16-230 and FJ26-280C models although the FJ18-280 and the FJ26-280 now come fitted with a Mercedes-Benz engine and the FIG85 transmission. One of the key additions to the new and improved ranges comes in the form of an E-viscous fan with intermittent operation, by reducing the load on the engine, the fan help to improve fuel efficiency. The models also come with variable engine rpm control for demand-based rpm settings and a differential lock buzzer to assist the driver. To further improve fuel efficiency and reduce driver fatigue, Fuso Trucks have incorporated a cruise control system.

“FUSO Trucks are not only committed to expanding its product offering with new models but is also strongly committed to ensuring that the existing product offering is constantly improved to meet changing customer demands,” Ziyad Gaba, Head of FUSO Trucks Southern Africa.

Additional driver comforts come in the form of an FM radio with a USB port and a solar windshield to prevent excess sunlight and limit cabin temperatures. Drivers also benefit from a pendant-type brake pedal for improved ergonomics and brighter cabin illumination from the LED lamps fitted to the interior. One of the first noticeable changes to the exterior is the body colour bumper which is offset by the grey fender and footstep. The front comes fitted with new dual-chamber headlamps and daytime running lights.

“We continue to grow in the various market segments in which we compete as a result of constantly being in close contact with our customers. This means we know that one of the major challenges that customers face is the inherent complexity of operating in the current transport industry. Simplicity applies to provide vehicles that are flexible, allowing for a wide number of applications. Superior trucks are crucial to all the market segments. Customers also demand we provide them with simply better trucks in order to achieve their objectives,” Ziyad Gaba, Head of FUSO Trucks Southern Africa.
