Roodepoort rapper aims for the stars
This future big star said he aims at owning the hip hop space in South Africa and being one of the best.
While most school children would use a pen and paper to write their school work, Roodepoort’s upcoming rapper, Oratile Legoale, has used it for more than that.
Popularly known as Kiid Fresh, the youngster said he started writing lyrics at the tender age of 10.
The local rapper, who was inspired by many musicians and rappers, recorded his first demo at the age of 14 when his passion for music started growing.
When asked how the name came about, he said, “My brother came up with the name. I first started calling myself Bhut’omchaneYoufresh which meant ‘Lil bro fresh’, but people kept on saying I was imitating okmalumkoolkat, a well-known South African rapper. I then changed my name to KIID FRESH since I was chubby at the time. “
The 18-year-old started making music as a way of expressing himself and also pouring out his emotions.
“I used to love telling stories and just expressing myself through music. I had nobody to talk to as my mom was at work most of the time, so the pen and paper became my way of self-expression,“ said Oratile.
Most of the tracks he has released are about his life and upbringing. To date, Kiid Fresh has released six singles.
“I was motivated by a few superstars in the game. Before I would write a song or a verse, I could ask myself how they would do it and it was a bit difficult for me, but I kept on practising until I became a pro at it,” he said.
The Record asked him about his latest work and he said, “I’ve got one major single which is set to drop in September. That is going to be the hottest single to come out of the SA hip hop scene in the last three years. I felt inspired and dedicated when I was writing that song. I always believe in my craft and always know that my time is coming.”

“With this track that I am working on, the single titled Dedication will be the main star. I will be releasing my 10-track Extended Play (EP) and push it as much as we can so people can get ready for the EP,” he added.
