Making the Most of your Trip to the Kruger_ Where to stay and play

The Kruger National Park has a number of private game reserves which collectively are regarded as the Greater Kruger Park, and are home to some of the world’s leading luxury lodges.

Taking a trip to the Kruger National Park for a safari is a must-do experience for everyone. This pristine two million hectare game reserve is an adventure wonderland with abundant wildlife, various accommodation options to suit the needs of solo explorers, couples, and families; as well as a wide range of exciting safari activities.

Staying outside the Kruger National Park is great for those travellers who want to explore surrounding attractions such as God’s Window, Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Three Rondavels, Jane Goodall Chimpanzee Eden, Long Tom Pass, Mac-Mac Falls, Elephant Whispers, and Perry’s Bridge Reptile Park. White River and Hazyview are popular tourist hubs, offering a range of accommodation options and are both within easy reach of the Kruger National Park. This is also a good option for families with children younger than six years who would like to self drive in the park but are not looking to experience the more rustic styled accommodations. It is also great for travellers looking to explore the region more extensively and in the most cost effective manner.

For those travellers more focussed on exploring the bush and have a more restricted budget, there are two options to consider. The first is to stay in a rest camp that offers clean and comfortable self-catering accommodation, and the choice between self-driving in the camp or booking guided safari activities. Alternatively, staying in a three star lodge within the park offers great comfort and includes your meals and safari activities which generally comprise of dawn and dusk game drives, as well as guided bush walks. When deciding between self-catering and three-star lodging, be sure to consider the costs of booking individual activities and arranging meals whilst on your safari holiday.

Some travellers only get to go away once a year and look forward to rejuvenating their mind, body and soul. Many feel that the only way to truly relax and enjoy themselves is in a lodge with all the modern day comforts.
