Champions Boxing council honoured their top achievers for 2017

Successes for the year highlighted during the annual year end banquet

The Champions Boxing Council recently hosted their annual year-end banquet to honour their top achievers.

More than 200 guests attended the glamourous black tie affair, where they witnessed the best boxers for 2017 receiving their awards.

In the male category, the winners were:

• Freddy Nampa,

• Tiano Daniels,

• Shahid Mulla, and

• Khomotso Masondo.

In the female category, the following boxers received awards:

• Busani Menda,

• Taryn Vassen,

• Tasmiyah Ajimudin, and

• Keabetswe Mathane.

The guests were also entertained with a presentation highlighting the huge strides made by the boxing council in achieving the global goals for sustainable development.

Some of the innovative breakthroughs implemented by the boxing council during the past year included the Champions Integrated Electronic Scoring Machine, the Champions E-learning courses for officials (first of its kind), the Champions Punch Stat Analysis technology and the Champions Integrated Database Management.

Ra’ees Khan from the Champions Boxing Council said, “We are looking forward to the launch of the Champions Elite Academy in 2018, which will be engulfed with state of the art technology, as well as hosting the Champions Pan African Championships in April next year. This year has clearly been a productive one, and next year is set to be nothing less than spectacular,” he said.

He concluded by thanking all sponsors, stakeholders, parents, volunteers, staff, media as well as the community for their continued support.
