That warm, fuzzy feeling

You know when you sometimes hear a story and it gives you such a warm, fuzzy feeling in your heart, you actually feel like crying because it is so good? We had three such stories last week. You know when you sometimes hear a story and it gives you such a warm, fuzzy feeling in your heart, you actually feel like crying because it is so good?

We had three such stories last week. You can read about them online (www.roodepoortnorthsider.co.za), but I’d like to recap them for you.

The first one was about a security guard named Jimmy Motswatswa, who pitched up for work on an early Monday morning, not expecting much excitement, whose day suddenly took a turn. He helped a young schoolgirl give birth to a healthy baby girl he named Caprivi in a school transport van. What I liked about the story is the way he told it. Not mincing words and with much enthusiasm he gestured wildly exactly how it happened. At times I had to giggle at his antics and how he told the story. Although I don’t know him, he is someone I would trust with my life. He just has that vibe about him. Good for you Jimmy, not every man is brave enough to handle what you did that morning.

About two or three weeks ago we published an article about a man who was desperately looking for a job. He didn’t beg for money or handouts, but for a job that pays well enough for him to take care of his family. He said, after the story appeared in the paper and was published on the website he received so many calls that he was invited to about three to four interviews per day. He recently received an amazing job offer (we cannot say where and from whom), but he will certainly be able to take care of his family without any worry every again. All the best to you, Craig Hardman, may the new adventure be all that you prayed for.

And then, on Monday, 23 October we received information about a woman who gave birth on the pavement of CR Swart Drive in Wilro Park. She was immediately assisted by bystanders. They called an ambulance which transported her and her baby to hospital. Both of them are doing fine.

This is what a community is about. People who look out for each regardless of race or religion. This is why I love living and working in Roodepoort. Some people are superheroes, while others do their best to help those who are less fortunate, even if they don’t have much themselves.

I salute those people.

Until next week, continue to do good and take care of one another.

Ciao
