After just more than four years, the Roodepoort Northsider is once again part of the Caxton West Rand stable, and we have big plans for the paper, the website and the Facebook page.
Many years ago, when I was still a journalist for the Roodepoort Record, I worked in the northern parts of the West Rand, when it and the Northsider were still one big weekly paper. During that time I met some amazing people and wrote some good stories.
But things have changed and the Northsider has evolved into a paper in its own right. When Caxton West Rand’s business manager Jeanette Peach called me into her office and asked if I would be willing to take over the editorship of the paper, I didn’t hesitate for one second. I am very excited at the prospect of being at its helm.
After a few sleepless nights pondering, wondering and planning my next move with the paper, I realised that the challenge is going to be huge, but I’m willing to take it on.
However, I haven’t been part of the area for many years and need to get to know the residents and events all over again – so please keep me updated.
Trusted journalists Amy Ingram and Siso Naile will still be your favourite go-to journalists for the area and the website and Facebook page will be fed continuously with the latest updated news about the community.
