Construction worker falls from third floor

RANDPARK RIDGE – Construction worker in serious condition after falling three storeys.

A 32-year-old construction worker was airlifted to a Johannesburg hospital after allegedly falling from the third floor of a construction site on 11 May.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Nick Dollman, the Netcare 911 flight desk was contacted by paramedics at an emergency scene in Randpark Ridge where the man had fallen three floors.

Dollman indicated that the man sustained serious injuries.

“The 32-year-old was in a very serious condition due to several serious fractures that he had sustained,” he said.

He added that the man received treatment on the ground before being airlifted.

“The man was stabilised by ground crews and medication were administered to reduce the amount of pain that he was experiencing.”

“Ground crews also temporarily closed off a road to enable the helicopter to land safely next to the scene in the residential area, and he was airlifted to a specialised trauma unit for further assessment and care,” Dollman concluded.
