Cherish the ones you love

The year is only 19 days old and already there is so much heartache.

A woman died in a burning car following a collision on Christiaan de Wet Road last week. Although we still don’t know her identity, we at the Record send our condolences to her friends and family.

A young man, only 21 years old, died while he tried to defend his family against a criminal. It is such a sad loss. He was so young and yet so brave. I hope his family finds solace in the fact that he died a hero.

Last weekend my best friend’s mother died of kidney failure. She had breast cancer. It is such a shock to everybody who knows her because she had been so strong throughout chemotherapy. She was my Gauteng mom.

I will miss her dearly, but it was her time to go.

There are so many others as well, too many to mention but the loss and heartache are unbearable, especially to friends and family.

Nothing anybody says will make it better. The hurt of losing someone never goes away, you just learn to live with the loss.

Cherish the people you love, you never know when it’s their time to go.
