Empowerment over a cup of tea

MULDERSDRIFT - Miss SA 2017 semi-finalist empowers women at a motivational high tea talk.

Miss South Africa 2017 semi-finalist, Shelbe Pretorius presented a talk at the Ngwenya Glass Village Barefoot Kitchen High Tea.
Pretorius focused on three main points for her talk which covered women empowerment and empowering other women; building self-confidence and its importance; and self-acceptance.
“The main message I wanted to get across was self-acceptance as women are constantly judged and compare themselves to the covers of magazines, and that it is important for women to recognise their value, empower themselves and be confident because then more doors will open for you,” said Pretorius.
This message ties into why she wants to be Miss South Africa 2017, as she is passionate about inspiring women and instilling value and purpose in their hearts. She believes it is not the title that will define her but that she will define the value of the title by being able to bring all of herself, her dreams, goals and purpose to the fore.
Pretorius is the owner of Flair Promotional Models and is one of nine committee members and leaders at House Jade, a haven for orphaned children. She is also a volunteer youth worker at Christ Kids Trust and she works at the West Rand School, which is a school for children with disabilities and special needs.
