Zero to hero: Online seminar

HONEYDEW – The Zero to Hero business seminar teaches attendants how to market their business through the internet.

The Zero to Hero online marketing seminar captivated attendants who learned how to boost their online business presence.

The seminar was hosted by Leon Marinus, an online marketing expert who was also a speaker at the event. The seminar was held at Soli Deo Gloria Boutique Hotel in Honeydew on 26 May and hosted in conjunction with the Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Rocci).

Marinus explained to the audience that the internet has opened up the biggest market in terms of the internet. He also explained that networking was an essential marketing tool that businesses could use.

“When I started my business I went to all the networking events I could find and I would build connections and meet people in the community,” he said.

He pointed out that building connections and relationships helped business people to reach new businesses.

In order for the business to expand Marinus encouraged the audience to identify and analyse the five core problems that their potential client had.

“Once the five core problems have been identified, then the product and services that the business persons have can be shaped into solving their client’s problems further creating a need for their product and or service,” he explained.

He further elaborated that when the internet was used as a marketing tool for businesses it created a worldwide platform. He urged employers to trust their employees and that as long as their work was done, there was no harm in allowing employees time to clear their minds.

Another speaker at the event was John Harris, the owner of Information Products South Africa, who said that the event was held to encourage business owners and marketers to position themselves as experts in their field.

“Once business owners have positioned themselves, they will be able to take their business to the next level. The key thing is to get the message out there and to highlight the uniqueness of the business,” Harris said.

Sannah Bophela one of the attendees said that she attended the seminar to learn online marketing skills to boost her business. “I am not good with the internet but it is a growing phenomenon and soon that is where we will be doing most of our business in the future,” Bophela said.
