GALLERY: Music and family rule Mother’s Day

POORTVIEW - Families gather to enjoy an open air concert this Mother's Day.

Mother’s Day was celebrated with the voices of Joe Foster and Zandre Delport entertaining the gathered families at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens.

Talented singer Joe Foster  serenaded the audience with love songs, while Zandre Delport entertained the crowds with covers of songs from Annie Lennox and Brenda Fassie.

Many families took the day to spend quality time with their parents or together as friends, as picnic baskets and blankets littered the lawns in front of the stage. Some individuals, such as Ksheka and Reshma Singh came as far as Midrand and Johannesburg South to enjoy time in nature.

Marketing and communications director of Walter Sisulu, Ronny Tshabalala said, “Everything went well and there was good support. We had to start early because we were not sure what the weather was doing, therefore, the entertainment ended earlier than visitors expected. Some people were disappointed as they were enjoying themselves and were looking forward to more. Many families continuously support our events and we are very appreciative.”

Visitors to the gardens could also enjoy displays from artists around Johannesburg, who were selling their wares on the day.
