MULDERSDRIFT– Abraham Kriel Childcare hosted a Mother's Day breakfast in order to raise funds.
Abraham Kriel Childcare hosted a Mother’s Day breakfast, celebrating the importance of all mothers.
The breakfast took place at the Silverstar Casino in the Platinum Ballroom, on 7 May. The special occasion was attended by mothers, their children, family members and representatives from organisations. Items such as jewellery, bags, artwork and vouchers, were auctioned to raise funds for the organisation. A total of R9 600 was raised just from the auction.
Abraham Kriel Childcare social media strategist Adele Kincaid-Smith said that together with Woolworths, they organised the breakfast for their guests. Woolworths match-funded the event, which meant that Woolworths matched every ticket sold.
“We spread the word through social media, online sites and Woolworths also created awareness about the breakfast through their own platforms. We had an amazing response from everyone in attendance. As mothers we have a strong connection with children and understand the importance of having a mother or a parent. At Abraham Kriel Childcare we have childcare workers who are allocated to each house, who care for them as parents. This event was to raise funds to continue to take care of the children’s daily needs at our Langlaagte campus,” she said
The emcee for the event was actress, presenter and singer Eloise Cupido. Guests were also entertained with performances by singers Willem Botha and Jennifer Jones.
Woolworths regional manager Belinda Botha said that they participated in a programme called ‘Team Just Cause’, where staff members had to pick two charities of their choice.
“We always encourage our staff members to participate in helping charity organisations. The response from everyone who attended the breakfast was great and overwhelming at the same time,” said Botha.
Eunice Driver attended the event with her mother and said that she does not only celebrate Mother’s Day once a year but instead tries to spoil her mother as much as possible throughout the year.
“The overall event was good with a great turnout. The highlight of the event for me were the gifts we received. On Mother’s Day I plan to make breakfast with my mother,” concluded Driver.
