JOBURG – It's finally weekend again and a brand new week filled with exciting entertainment.

This week’s Gig Guide is jam-packed with lots of fun-filled activities and events for the whole family.

Noise at the Market Theatre

Since 13 November up until 6 December this dramatic theatre production at the Market Theatre will let you experience universal themes such as poverty and unemployment with its storyline based on young people who fall ‘below the radar’ and who try to hold onto their hopes and dreams against all odds. This realistic production – first presented 20 years ago and set in a poor area of Birmingham in the UK – promises to be an eye-opener that will make you look at things differently. Performances are at 8.15pm except on Sundays the performance starts at 3.15pm. Tickets can be bought at Computicket and cost between R90–R180.

Martin Scherzinger and Bobby Mitchell in Emmarentia

On 22 November make your way down to 7 Congo Road in Emmarentia for this extravagant music show. Make reservations in advance as this classical music delicacy is highly in demand. My Boetie se Boetie se Boetie se Baba Afrikaans comedy theatre production

If you want to crawl with laughter do not miss this hilarious theatre production on 24 to 29 November at the UJ theatre. CEO of Lefra Productions, Frans Swart said this is a show to be pinned in the memory box. The show starts at 7.30pm and includes popular Afrikaans actors such as Anna van Achterberg, Botha Enslin, Cindy Swanepoel, Cobus Venter, Dirk Vermeulen and Francois van Rensburg. International Comedy Festival at Silverstar casino

From 25 November to 5 December you are in for a major laughing treat at the National Comedy Festival at Silverstar Casino. The festival of laughter is packed with 60 comedians lined up and 18 events that take place over five days. Open Mike Night at TJ’s Live Music

If you are an up-and-coming musician and want to perform in front of a crowd or somebody who likes to support local talent, do not miss the open Mike Night on 26 November at TJ’s Live Acoustic Club at Mark’s Park. Judith Sephuma live at Gold Reef City

The South African jazz and afro-pop singer will light up the Lyric Theatre with a magnificent performance on 27 November. Gold Reef City marketing manager Gareth Kaschula says hosting Sephuma at the Lyric will once again demonstrate their commitment to bringing guests the very best of first-class entertainment. The show starts at 8pm and tickets go for R200.
