Afro-soul jazz singer Ringo Madlingozi performed at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden on 13 September for the first time, as part of the Old Mutual Music in the Garden programme.

The programme features the most renowned artists in South Africa, and it is held at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden and Pretoria Botanical Gardens.

The opening act was performed by Afro-soul singer Bantu Soul who captured the crowd with his soulful tunes.

The multi-talented producer and songwriter, Madlingozi, serenaded the crowd with his songs Ekhaya and Sondela which left the audience ecstatic. He had the crowd singing along to his songs and even welcomed one lucky fan to sing along with him on stage.

Madlingozi’s son, Phila Madlingozi, made it to the top 16 in the Idols competition. He said that he is proud of his son’s progress as a musician and making it that far in the competition. “I always encouraged him to practice and to do his best in everything he does,” he said.
