Do you think that technology is creating a communication gap in the future generation?

Wherever we go, there are either free Wi-fi, families sit together but each person is consumed with what information is being shared on WhatsApp, Facebook or Twitter and you are often judged on the type of smart phone you have.

I have heard teachers often complain that pupils’spelling and grammar usage is horrendous because they all use acronyms to keep typing as short as possible. If I look at some adult Facebook users, they are all getting a dictionary for Christmas, but what about the social aspect of technology.

In a sense Facebook keeps you in touch with family and friends, especially if they live in a country far away. You might have a peek as a stranger’s page to see what they are up to, and if they have a lot of friends, then maybe, just maybe they are loved by many. Some people use Facebook to search for long lost friends, and I have heard many others have found love.

Some Facebook users share every single moment of their life on the social platform, which can sometimes be very annoying,

The media, of course, use social media to share their breaking news stories with the community and it has now become such a part of our lives, everybody is depending on it more every day. What faster way is there to share a heart-warming, heart-breaking, sweet or sad story with your friends and family.

The downside however is that most people spend so much time online, they forget spending quality time with their loved ones. I have often seen families sitting in a restaurant, not talking, just staring at their phones or tablets.

Some people prefer to have no-phone areas which force them to talk to each other. It sounds like a good idea, don’t you think.

Have technology consumed your life? Are you addicted to social media?

Enjoy the rest of your week. Take care of one another.
