The Mosaiek Teatro in Fairland filled up with artists and producers to award praise and worship music at the first Mzansi Gospel Awards on 13 June.
The glitzy event brought the stars out on the cold evening, to honour artists in South Africa’s contemporary gospel industry.
Mzansi Gospel Awards visionary leader, Edzani Raaloe said the show was about complementing the other awards in the gap of the fast-growing genre of gospel music.
“We vow to be the multiracial awards that honour both black and white artists in the growing genre of contemporary and unconventional gospel music,” he said.
Throughout the night, only one thing stood out from the artists and audience; the celebration and glorifying of God. Sfiso Ncwane, who walked away with the Best Male of the Year award said, “I just want to thank God. The support I have been getting in the country has been amazing. This is an honour.”
The group We Will Worship bagged the song of the year awards right after a remarkable performance.
“We are so grateful to everyone that has supported us. We would like to thank King Jesus. We are simply at a loss for words right now,” the group added.
