EMMARENTIA – The annual Fiesta Latina SA is an experience not to be missed.

South Africa’s fourth annual Latino cultural festival, Fiesta Latina SA is set to take place on 13 June at Mark’s Park Sports Club on the rugby field, in Emmarentia.

The festival celebrates the culture, cuisine, music, dance and folklore of central and South America.

Visitors can expect more than eight hours of interactive Latin entertainment, including live performances, cultural dances, traditional Latin games and competitions. There will be many prizes up for grabs for best festive attire. A children’s play area and colourful piñatas crammed with delicious treats will delight the children. Browse the stalls for an eclectic variety of goods by the local Latin community, from handcrafted items and authentic chilli salsas, to artisan Peruvian cookies. Food from seven countries including Venezuela, Perú, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia will be available to savour.

Attractions at this year’s Fiesta Latina include a book signing by Mexican author José Harris, traditional mariachi performance by award-winning Peruvian entertainer César Alvarado, tango by Argentinian tango expert Emiliano Fernandez, and when the sun goes down, ‘La Hora Loca,’ an energetic carnival hour featuring classic and contemporary Latin hits that are sure to get your feet tapping and hips shaking to the rhythm.

Fiesta Latina is a fun family event. Visitors are welcome to bring picnic blankets and deck chairs. The event opens at 11am. Tickets are available via www.quicket.co.za and are R80 per adult, R40 for children and children under five enter free. The entrance to the rugby field is on Orange Road. No pets or food and beverages from outside the premises will be allowed. A cash bar will be available.
