The weekend is here and the City of Gold has something for everyone. Here is a list of places to have fun this weekend.

• Campaign4Change

Ricky Rick, Phfat, Stilo Magalide, Nonku Phiri, Muptee and Boniswasian will be joining forces and coming together to Campaign4Change on 7 May in Braamfontein from 7pm. If change really does start with us then why not be the generation to kick it into gear and make it happen. They’ll be laughter and booze, fun and friends as well as jamming and madness. Braamfontein will be set alight by the flames of change so make sure you’re there to witness the revolution. Entrance is payable at the door.

• Africans gala evening

Make your way to the African gala evening on 9 May, at News Café, North Riding from 2pm until 7pm which is an event that is geared toward uniting Africas in the spirit of contentment and promoting talents and skills relevant to the community. Entertainers and speakers from around Africa will be available to grace the event.

• The City Wide

The City Wide will be blessing Smugglers with their powerful and energetic anthem of riffs on 9 May at the Smugglers Pub at Cnr Riverbend Road and Witkoppen, North Riding, Johannesburg. They have been in the business of rocking a crowd long enough to know how to rattle you to your core, so what are you waiting for?

• Black by popular demand

Do you want to let loose and just laugh? Then make your way to Emperors Palace Centre Court on 9 May at 8pm for the Blacks Only Comedy. The Blacks Only Comedy Show has become one of the most anticipated events on the social calendar and showcases the country`s top black comedians. Join award winning comedian David Kau.

• Jonathan Roxmouth in Stage by Stage

Join Jonathan Roxmouth, multi-award winning singer, musician, actor and darling of the South African stage will be performing at Pieter Toerien Main Theatre – Johannesburg on 10 May at 6pm. So hang on for a fantastic ride unlike anything Jonathan has done before.

• Mother’s Day At 1Fox

Struggling to think of something to do this Mother’s Day? Why not treat your mom to a memorable day out at 1Foix on 10 May? Pick from one of the two sessions, both complete by live music, something yummy to nibble on and the perfect way to put a smile on her face.

• Mother’s Day Concert in the Garden

Make your way to a fun filled day of music and dance at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden, a serene outdoor venue on 10 May. First to open the stage will Henry Van Dyk the Uncrowned prince of Afrikaans romance music singer who also sings in Italian and is touted as SA own Josh Groban.

Then the SAMA Award winner Tiro Moshosho will go classical with his mellow voice belching those numbers that we all appreciate with awe. Charlize Berg the stylistic Afrikaans songstress will close the stage with those traditional songs that are popular in the Afrikaans culture and add some new ones in her albums such as “Hou you mond En Soen my and Sit My Ne Sggies Neer.
