Cindy Alter at the Radium

Singer, songwriter, Cindy Alter will be performing at The Radium Beer Hall in Orange Grove on 21 March 2015 at 8pm.

This gig marks Cindy’s first solo gig with her full band and will showcase new material that will appear on her forthcoming album out in May 2015. Cindy’s much-anticipated autobiography No Substitute will be out toward the middle of the year. Tickets are R90 at the door.

Inner City Comedy

Time to have your funny bone tickled with some mid-week humour. Make your way to the Market Theatre in Newtown on 20 March at 7.30pm to enjoy a night of comedy. Mojak Lehoko will be leading you through the night with a line-up that would humour you, so best believe you are in for a laugh. It is a delightful way to spend your evening so don’t miss out.

Line-up: Kagiso Lediga, Tats Nkonzo, Robby Collins, Nina Hastie and Skhumba AKA.

Entrance is payable at the door and will cost between R120 and R150.

Greenlight

The three holy colours will be embellishing the space at MiHouse on 21 March and promises to make way for soothing reggae sounds. Dance the night away and give yourself to the soulful sounds, be taken away and feel your spirit take flight. Line-up: Junior, Kings in Babylon, Cook, License to Dub and BenSon.

Free before 8pm and R80 thereafter.

Human Rights Day

It is the 21st of March and the nation is celebrating Human Rights Day. Make your way to the Tiger tiger at 8pm. There will be singing and dancing, living and rejoicing, smiling and lots of drinking. Entrance is payable at the door.

Joburg Natural Hair Meet Up

Joburg naturalistas are advised to make their way to the Open venue on 21 March. Join the rest of the fro community at the inaugural Johannesburg Natural Hair Meet Up.

The programme will be jam-packed with entertaining and educational speakers that include US-based natural hair blogger and founder of Klassy Kinks, Ijeoma Eboh, local natural hair blogger and entrepreneur, Ruth Mafupa, nutritionist and founder of Africa Grace skin care range, Charlotte Steenekamp, stylist and fitness coach, Maxine Jafta and founder of Afro Amour hair care range, Karabo Kekana. You can also look forward to style tutorials, panel discussions, goody bags and prize giveaways filled with great local natural hair and skin care products.

Michael Bublé Live at the Dome

Michael Bublé, will be touching base at the Coca-Cola Dome on 21 March at 8pm. Over the decade Bublé has been blessing the masses with his enchanting voice, dashing good looks and lyrical artistry. The Canadian-born singer has crept up the Top Jazz Charts, snatched Grammy Awards and Juno Awards and found a place to call home in the hearts of millions all over the world. He is famous for songs like It’s a Beautiful Day, Haven’t Met You Yet, Save the Last Dance for Me, Me and Mrs Jones as well as Quando, Quando, Quando and many many more.

Socialite Saturday – Human Rights Day Celebration

Socialite Saturday will be celebrating Human Rights Day at Nicci Beach Ultra Lounge in Boksburg on 21 March at 4pm

Celebrate the strides the country has made and the unity of a nation on the Nicci Beach dance floor.

Line-up: Julian Gomes, Nick Essential, Vato Kayde, 2Lani The Warrior, Vin Groovin, Kyle Worde, Household Funk, Bhavs and Krazyboy, Miguel Tavares, Dj Wox and Pretty Flithy.

Ladies free before 6pm and R100 thereafter and Men R100.

Sowing The Seeds 2015

Emmarentia Dam is the place to be on 21 March. Sowing the Seeds is back for round three and they’re bringing Paolo Nutini as the international headliner alongside some of SA’s top acts.

Sowing the Seeds is the sister act to the successful Rocking the Daisies. This bite sized festival packs all the punches of a weekend festival into a hip, fun, one-day event with all the trimmings including a craft beer hall, boutique wine stalls, food trucks and an atmosphere only Seed Experiences can create.

Line-up: Desmond and the Tutus, Bongeziwe Mabandla, Paolo Nutini, Shortstraw and others.

Patterns 3rd Edition

The volume will be turned up at Kitchener’s Carvery Bar on 22 March at 2pm. Patterns will bring you a sensational selection of crowd pleasers and pullers.

Line-up: QB Smith, Bubbles and Essential-i Deeptone.

Photosynthesis – March

Make your way onto Joburg’s favourite rooftop jam, The Living room at Maboneng on 22 March at 12pm. Come lounge and relax, dance and sway to the beats on offer from local artists in the chilled and colourful atmosphere you have all come to know so well.
