Birdman snags Best Picture Award at the Oscars

JOBURG – The crème de la crème of the film industry were announced at the 87th Academy Award winners.

'Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)' snags four Oscars, including Best Picture.

It was a night of cinematic splendour as the entertainment industry of Hollywood gathered at the 87th Annual Academy Awards.

The winners were announced during a ceremony held at the Dolby theatre in Hollywood on Sunday.

Here are some of the winners for the night:

Best Picture: Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance).

Best Actor: Eddie Redmayne in The Theory of Everything.Best Actress: Julianne Moore in Still Alice.

Best Supporting Actor: J.K. Simmons in Whiplash

Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette in Boyhood

Best Director: Alejandro G. Inarritu in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance).
