Bring and share gifts with less-fortunate

RUIMSIG — Local charities are treated to a night of spectacular music and gifts with the annual carols by candle light.

The time to give and celebrate is upon us and pupils at Maragon Pirivate Schools were more than willing to get their hands dirty in the annual Carols by Candle Light.

Hosted in the great hall, the pupils had decorated the space to create a beautiful winter wonderland that left everyone with that warm fuzzy feeling.

With a self-explanatory theme Bring and Share, four local charities received donated gifts and goodie bags to certainly make this a merry Christmas. Maragon’s marketing manager, Belinda Espag said, “It was an event that touched everyone’s heart, reinforcing that giving is better than receiving. The children’s reactions were a blessing.”

Caregiver at St Laurence Children’s Haven, Richard Malan added, “It means so much to all the kids for them to get something special. We take care of abandoned and abused children and it is so important that they feel special and loved this season. They are really excited to be here.”

This is the second year the school has hosted a Carols by Candle Light special and both parents and teachers donated more than 150 gifts to those less fortunate.

The festive season may bring with it gifts and holidays but it is important to remember our local NGOs and charities, who give more than just their time every day of the year.
