1. Africa Cycle Fair

Join the African Cycle fair at the Cradle of Humankind from 24 to 26 October, with races and an interesting cycle exhibition.

The event will start off with a Cradle Sunset Ride on 24 October. The ride will be a short, but hard, ride with spectacular views of the Cradle at sunset. Cyclist will be able to choose from a variety of races on the 25th. The Randonnaire Populaire Cycle Challenge will take place on 26 October at 7am and it will be a 110km-long distance that can be seen as an introduction to long-distance cycling.

2. Justin Serrao ‘Forget’ album launch 26 October.

Forget and let loose with musician Justin Serrao at Montecasino on 26 October. The talented performer will be launching his second album titled, Forget and Let Loose, which was released in August this year, with a number of singles including I’ll Be There and No one Cares.

R100 gets you in and includes the album.

3. The South African State Theatre presents ‘A Crowd’

If you are a theatre lover, then the South African State Theatre has something for you. A Crowd is about three childhood friends (one male and two females) who grew up in the same township and went to study at the same university. After graduating, the guy decided to marry one of the women. As friendship continues, the guy cheated with the other friend (the one he didn’t marry) and got her pregnant. The same woman is bisexual, in return she ends up sleeping with the guy’s wife. In the end, the truth prevails.

4. Absa Randburg Art Exhibition

Art lovers will be glad to know that the Absa Art Exhibition will be at Randburg. The art exhibition runs from 28 October to 9 November 2014 every day, during banking hours at Absa Randburg Cnr Oak and Retail Ave Randburg.

The opening is 28 October from 6pm for 6.30pm at Absa Randburg.

5. Estelle Kokot Live

Estelle Kokot is one of the overseers of a great jazz legacy. Join her as she performs from the heart at The Orbit – Home of Jazz on 25 October in Braamfontein. She has played with giants like Victor Ntoni, Barney Rachabane and other greats. She will be joined by Herbie Tsoaeli as double bass, and herself as the pianist and Peter Auret will be handling the drums.

6. Toya Delazy ‘Ascension’ Album Launch.

Kong is the place to be this weekend. The wild, free-spirited singer, pianist, performer and dancer Toya Delazy will launch her new album on 24 October at Kong at 10pm. The KwaZulu Natal songstress will be at Kong to launch Ascension. Catch her as she entertains you the best way she knows how. She will also be performing her new single, Forbidden Fruit, as well as a few of her other body shakers. Entrance is R150.

7. Heineken Street Party

The much-anticipated Heineken Street Party is finally happening. Join the insane street party on 25 October at the Sands. Not only will it be a phenomenal party but there will also be two dance floors and an interesting line-up: Ricardo da Costa, Saubomb, Harael Salkow, Pimp Squad, Household Funk, Mark Stent and others. Tickets available on Webtickets, prices range between R100 and R150 at the door.

8. Max-Hoba – ‘Traveling Man’ Album Launch

Following the online international success of his first album, Max-Hoba brings you his new album, Traveling Man on 26 October at the Johannesburg Theatre Complex in Braamfontein. The album is based on the artist’s spiritual journey, understanding, his appreciation for his relationship with his maker and the role his ancestors have played in his life and career. Artists featured on the album are ZuluBoy, Mojalefa ‘Punchline Manyofonyofo’ Mokubung, Lerato ‘LoveGlory’ Moiloa and Marley Kekana. Tickets are available from Joburg Theatre for R150.

9. Enuff Said

Enuff Said presents Ian and guest musicians performing an eclectic mix of music, at Moonshine Bar and Restaurant in Westdene 26 October from 2pm until 5pm. Cover charge R40 per person.

10. The Barnyard Theatre Cresta

The Barnyard Theatre Cresta will host a Barnyard Performers Unite Against Crime on 26 October from 8pm, however doors will be open at 6.30pm. The show is in support of three Barnyard performers who were recently robbed of all their possessions while they were on the road.

The show will feature highlights from three of the barnyard’s best-selling productions: 99 Hits, Battle of the Sexes and ’80s vs ’90s.
