Red Ants break promise

The church structure still stands half-done with the congregation being without a sanctuary.

After the Red Ants mistakenly demolished a AFM church structure, the church is still in shambles.

The church structure was demolished on 16 September after Selby Dunn, director of the Red Ants, had given instructions to that effect.

When Dunn realised the mistake he agreed to have the structure rebuilt by Wednesday 24 September. But the day came and went, and the church structure still stands half-done with the congregation without a sanctuary.

Ronald Ngubeni of the Red Ants who was on daily petrol when the structure was dismantled, returned with his troop on 28 September to rebuild it; but Pastor David Molo was not happy with their workmanship as it could not withstand the bad weather on 29 September.

Molo says he is devastated and has sleepless nights ever since the unfortunate events.

He lists the following problems arising from the Red Ants’ actions:

– The sister’s fellowship was conducted under the tree on 20 September

– A tent had to be hired for R650 so that a Sunday morning church service could be held on 21 September

– The congregation had a church service in an incomplete and unsafe structure built by the Red Ants on 28 September

– The memorial service for a deceased church member had to be held outside in the open

– The attendance of Sunday morning services has declined for the last two Sundays

– Church members are starting to question whether Pastor Molo truly had bought the land

After numerous attempts to get hold of Dunn, he eventually responded that he did not know about Pastor Molo’s misery and would be at the site personally on Friday 3 October.
