Solid support at Prince’s Woman’s Day celebration

Community come together for good cause.

The community of Florida Park and surrounding areas came together on 9 August to support Woman’s Day at the Prince of Thieves Pub.

The occasion was much more than just an opportunity for revelry as all the money raised on the day went to the Abraham Kriel Orphanage.

For a few hours the parking lot was turned into a festival for young and old. Stalls supplied the hungry with scrumptious food, the not-so-shy could show their mettle in a talent competition, the Chicken Runners showed off their Vespas and the young ones could take a train ride or slide down the giant jumping castle.

There was a potjie competition of which the proceeds of every plate sold also went to the orphanage.

Not even the threat of rain could discourage the community from enjoying the day and owner of the pub, Rita Welgemoed, hailed it as a great success.
