Local singer Justin Serrao to release his second album

CONSTANTIA KLOOF - local singer Justin Serrao chats about his upcoming album and a tour around SA with the Parlotones.

Singer and Constantia Kloof resident Justin Serrao says singing and touring is part of who he is.

The musician recently finished recording his second album Forget and Let Loose, which took many and months of effort to compile.

“It took me a year and three months to record and write all of the songs on the new album, so I’m extremely proud of my second album.”

He said the album is a mix of different Rock and Roll and Country genres and it’s a album that easy to listen to.

Prior to his solo venture, Serrao was a member of bands 74%stupid, Grounded and Smash&Grab Hotspot.

He fell in love with the concept of pursuing a solo career after making it to top 33 in music competition Idols SA in 2011.

Not long after the epiphany, Serrao released his first solo album Touching Toes Without Clothes in 2012.

In his latest offering, Serrao already predicts the hit song that many South Africans will identify with.

“The biggest hit, according to me, will be a track called Hard Knocking. It’s about the struggles that normal South Africans face everyday. It’s also based a bit on the strikes that are currently happening across the country.”

He also recorded a music video for a track called No One Cares and actor Charlene Brouwer is featured in it, along with one of Serrao’s close friends and The Parlotones keyboard player Glen Hodgson.

“What makes this video so interesting is that Brouwer had to slap me [across] the face in the video and we had to take the scene four times because she was scared of slapping me.”

According to Serrao the song is about a on and off relationship where friends no longer get upset with what is going on between the two of them and they are too proud to show their love for one another.

He was also excited to announce that he will be on tour with The Parlotones from 18 July to 22 August.

“We will be performing in various towns across the country from Bloemfontein to Cape Town.”

Forget and Let Loose will be available in-store and on iTunes in August.
