Insect intrigue at Botanical Gardens

An extraordinary look at bees, butterflies, caterpillars and spiders.

Join the Botanical Society at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens this weekend for an extraordinary look at bees, butterflies, caterpillars and spiders.

Their complex and intriguing life cycles will be discussed. A slide show will be presented by Peter Webb, an entomologist, photographer and wildlife ‘nut’ (as he refers to himself).

His discussion will touch on Sanbi’s Bee Pollinator Project, the ADU virtual museum, the caterpillar rearing group and their successes and strange habits.

This will be followed by an interactive walk through the garden and residents are welcome to bring cameras along to capture the intrigue. A few tricks in insect photography will be shared.

Don’t miss the chance to quench your interest in insects!

Those attending should meet at the Imbizo Hall. Tickets cost R60 per person for non-members and R30 per person for Botanical Society members. Children pay half price.

To book your tickets (essential) contact Ella and John Roberts, event coordinators, on 082 093 7826, 083 793 3019 or 073 473 5375. Alternatively, contact them via email at botsocevents@gmail.com .
