Open up your ears and mind to the youngest sounds of Roodepoort at the My Band Project at the Roodepoort Theatre. The project takes six youth bands and DJs between 16 and 29 years of age and puts them into a programme to educate them about the music industry. Each band or DJ will do one performance where they will be provided with the venue and marketing at no cost. Prizes include a cash prize, a demo recording with Shaw Music Studios and the Roodepoort Theatre’s Basement Theatre as the band’s home venue for performances. Swiss-based melodic heavy metal extraordinaires Dreamshade will be performing live in South Africa. Dreamshade has been shredding through stages across Europe and the United States in promotion of their highly acclaimed latest release, The Gift of Life. They will be supported by newcomers The Drift throughout their tour, and will be performing at Rumours Lounge in Weltevreden Park.
