Gig Guide — End of April

Get yourself through April by listening to some local artists on these dates.

Woes Rand — O’raait, back to basics, people. Although few gigs, this line-up of local artists and comedians promises to boost your happiness and sustain you through to the end of April. Note that the Bohemian in Westdene, a venue founded in 1983 (the third oldest existing pub in Johannesburg) is making an appearance on our Gig Guide, and it hopes to stay.

Saturday 19 April

Don’t miss Acoustic Saturdays at Tanz Live in Blackheath, as presented by Hit Music. Get ready for great line-ups, good food and a chilled Saturday afternoon with some of South Africa’s best local artists. Artists who want to sign up for the open mic section can email Jack at jack@hitmusic.co.za. Entrance costs R50 per person and under 16s get in free. Discount is offered on larger groups. The doors open at 10am and the show starts at 1pm.

Thursday 24 April

Don’t miss the chance to party one last time with PLUSH as they embark on their Postcard Tour at Tanz Live in Blackheath. The band officially says goodbye after 17 years, four albums, two EPs and numerous singles. Tickets cost R100 per person. The doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 8pm.

Friday 28 April

The Bohemian in Westdene, Johannesburg, presents Go Party Go! It boasts a fabulous line-up of local artists Alright Goodnight, Boxer, Gangsterdam and Go Barefoot. Entrance costs R30 per person. Wednesday 30 April

Tanz Live in Blackheath presents another Awednesday. The monthly comedy and party night is not one to be missed. It is hosted by Jason Goliath and is sure to be the best midweek break you could ask for. Look forward to five local comedians and a DJ. Tickets cost R50 per person on presale, and R70 per person at the door. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 8pm.
