Weekend events

Whether it's folk, rock or 80s pop you enjoy, this weekend has what to offer.

Four Corners – Opens 28 March

This coming-of-age crime thriller is set in the Cape ganglands and tells the story of a young chess prodigy who must defy the odds and stay one move ahead of the gangs— a game where winning or losing can mean the difference between life and death. It depicts the happenings of life on the Cape Flats, home to the Number Gang factions in the ghetto dune area outside Cape Town. Starring Lindiwe Matshikiza, Brendon Daniels, Irshaad Ally and Jezriel Skei.

Showing at all good cinemas.

Another Day and Kesh-In-Transit Present: Prom Class of 2014 – 28 March

Another Day is turning two and its contributors are all children of the 80s, and they’ll be transporting you back in time to a period where pastel coloured suits and puffy sleeved dresses were appropriate.

They’ve seriously gone all out to ensure you have the night you never had before, and who knows, maybe you’ll wake up to someone playing a corny rock ballad really loudly over a boombox outside your window. All bases are covered with cheap drinks, hot pink outfits, shiny decor, cover bands, power pop hits, fishnet gloves, teased hair, awkward dance offs, and flowery entrance hall.

WHERE: Marks Park Sports Club, Judith Road, Emmarentia

WHEN: Friday 28 March at 7:30

COST: R40
