This seems to be the case for Roodepoorters right now.

Flash floods, hailstorms and accidents on the roads seem to be the order of the day. Even the Johannesburg Roads Agency has issued a warning and some advice, where the golden rule definitely is caution and watching that speedometer.

Some common sense also will go a long way. Don’t misjudge the depth of the water in flooded areas; find higher ground and again don’t speed.

Malfunctioning traffic lights, slippery deteriorating roads and bad visibility are inevitable but you can do your bit by at least being courteous towards fellow motorists and pedestrians.

Patience is a virtue and destinations are exactly that; they’ll still be there five minutes later than you planned to arrive.

Finally on the subject of driving –whether you agree with it or not, JMPD now will be going after inebriated passengers in vehicles as well.

It is a very controversial decision but best to be on the safe side and have your tipple of choice at home.

Until next week, Godspeed and safe driving!
