Pick n Pay Witpoortjie was abuzz with soccer activities on April 12, as the Flying Eagles Academy hosted a fun-filled junior challenge aimed at recruiting new players and allowing them to train and gain vital skills.
Parents and supporters alike came with their camping chairs to support and cheer on these future soccer stars as they battled it out in the parking lot in various activities, including small-sided games, technical duels, and an ultimate knockout between teams.

According to the head coach of the academy, Mpho Sekgoanyane, the turnout was wonderful, as they had a total of 85 junior players between the ages of six and 15 who came through for this day of camaraderie.
“We had 21 new players, and we are grateful to Pick n Pay for allowing us to use their premises for this day. We had refreshments and food for the day, and it goes to show that they’re dedicated to giving back to the community,” he said.
In a fun-filled finale, parents showcased their skills in a lighthearted competition, adding a playful touch to the event.
“Players who are interested in joining the academy are more than welcome.”
They train every Wednesday and Friday at Culembeeck Primary School between 16:00 and 18:00 and every Saturday from 09:00 to 11:00.
