Local dancers claim top honours

Dancing duo take home top honors at prestigious competition.

The Southern Africa Dance International competition, held at the Gallagher Estate in Midrand on September 22, witnessed the triumphant return of dynamic dancing duo Rodney Kruger and Laura Crew.

The pair’s mesmerising performances earned them a slew of gold medals, solidifying their position as one of the region’s top dance duos. Rodney and Laura dominated the Ballroom category, securing first place in Quickstep, Waltz, Tango and Foxtrot. Their flawless technique, precision and chemistry on the dance floor left judges and audiences alike in awe.

Despite Laura facing a setback when she suffered a shoe malfunction during the competition, she swiftly recovered and went on to deliver a stunning performance in the Latin category, partnering with Levi Cannon. Together, they claimed gold in Cha-cha, Samba, Rumba and Paso Doble.

“We’re thrilled and humbled by our success, it was an incredible experience and we’re grateful for the opportunity to share our passion with the audience. Our hard work and dedication paid off, and we’re proud to represent the West Rand,” Rodney said.
