A rising star in gymnastics

Young gymnastics sensation Karma Visagie is set to represent SA in the FIG World Challenge Cup in Hungary.

Vision Gymnastics in Strubens Valley continues to prove its excellence in training athletes such as Karma Visagie (16), who once again received international recognition.

This talented gymnast has been selected to represent South Africa in the senior women’s artistic gymnastics category at the prestigious Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) World Challenge Cup in Szombathely, Hungary, from October 4–6.

Karma’s impressive performance at the 18th Junior and Senior Artistic African Championships in Marrakech, Morocco in May, secured her spot in the senior Olympic section for Protea colours. Coach Derick Scholtz praised her growth and determination.

“Karma has shown tremendous progress, from being a reserve to representing SA. This is her second World Cup Challenge, and our goal is to build her experience for the next Olympics,” Derick said.

Karma’s participation in international competitions exposes her to various techniques, preparing her for the world stage.

Derick added, “She’s excited and nervous, which is good as it challenges her physically and mentally.”

With her sights set on regular national competitions next year, Karma is a force to be reckoned with and nothing will stop her from achieving her goal of being the first SA gymnast to receive a medal at the Olympics.
