Parkrunner to run in United States

Local parkrunner received a full scholarship to the US where he will compete in cross-country and track events.

Florida — Cornè de Fouw, a talented parkrunner, has always dreamed of taking his talent to the world stage. Now, that dream has become a reality.

Growing up in Ruimsig, Cornè discovered his passion for running at a very young age, and he credits his weekly parkruns at Len Rutter Park for laying the foundation for his success.

“I started parkruns at a very young age and I think it is important to have a cross-country background to run fast on the track,” Cornè reflects.

Cornè recently secured a four-year full scholarship to the University of New Mexico in the United States, where he’ll compete in cross-country and track events.

This young man has already relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and his excitement grows daily as he explores the new city.

“Representing South Africa in the US means everything to me. I want to inspire fellow South Africans to chase their dreams abroad,” shared Cornè.

As Cornè embarks on this new chapter, he’s poised to make his mark on the American track scene, proudly flying the South African flag.

“I’m ready to give it my all and make my country proud.”
